Types of Reactions : Metal carbonates with dilute acid

Metals carbonates will react with dilute acids to give salt, water and carbon dioxide gas.


Reaction 1

metal carbonate+ acid salt + water + carbon dioxide gas


Reaction 2

The metal replaces the hydrogen. The products are salt, water and carbon dioxide gas.

You will notice that the type of salt produced depends on the acid used. Can you identify the reactants and the products shown in the equations above?
