The Periodic Table

We have been using only 12 elements but there are, in fact, 103 in total! The table below shows 86 of them.

The table also shows the chemical symbol used to represent each element. Some of these symbols are easy to remember. H, O, S, N, C and Cl are obvious.

Other symbols are more difficult to remember because they refer to the Latin name for the element.
Iron (Fe = ferrum in Latin), copper (Cu = cuprum in Latin), sodium (Na = natrium in Latin) and potassium (K = kalium in Latin).
