METAL OR
NON-METAL?
Generally, the
elements to the left and centre of the periodic table
are metals and the elements to the right of the
periodic table are non-metals.
There is a less definite region of the periodic table,
near where the metals meet the non-metals. Here, as you
might expect, there are atoms that show characteristics
of both metals and non-metals. This group of elements
are called the metalloids, which is from the Greek
meaning "sort of metals".
