Part 1: Introduction

This has already been mentioned in the section on forces. Every object has a centre of mass, but quite often, it is referred to as the Centre of Gravity.

At the end of this section you should:

  • Know the centre of mass of some regular shapes.

  • Understand how the centre of mass affects stability.

  • Know how to find the centre of mass of an irregular shape.

  • Be aware of the role which it plays in sports.
