Electric Circuit Symbols
When drawing diagrams to represent electric circuits, the following symbols are used.

*strictly speaking the symbol represents an electric cell and a group of cells connected together is a battery.

There are, of course, hundreds of other standard symbols for components like transistors, integrated circuits etc but the above will be enough for most of the situations we will consider in these pages.

In calculations, unless otherwise stated, we assume that connecting wires are made of a perfect conductor.
